Marketing and branding for therapists

So your referrals are dwindling, your caseload is shrinking, and you're panicking (I've been there, it sucks). "Marketing" is a scary concept but think of it this way: you're learning how to speak to the world in a way it can hear.

Why Claire?

Why hire a therapist and not a "marketing guru?" Well, good news, I'm both. Currently about 90% of my referrals are through Tiktok, where I have over 25 thousand followers. I've built a thriving private practice by cracking the code on internet marketing. I know what it means to advertise my business in a thoughtful and clinically appropriate way.

I’ve always loved writing and telling stories. Even before I knew the alphabet as a four year old, I would illustrate little story books and narrate the stories to my parents. In my twenties I published two books, and then I then worked in marketing and communications at the Institute of Buddhist Studies for over five years where I helped grow their student body to the largest in the school's history.

In my thirties, when I needed to figure out how to market my therapy business, I started making short videos on social media. I remember in a moment of insecurity I asked my partner, “Am I stupid for putting out these videos?” Their response was immediate. “It’s not stupid. You want to speak to the world.” That’s how I think about marketing and communications today, and how I invite you to think about it.

“Help, I need SEO!”

Many therapists assume they need help with SEO and google ads, but these are actually worth the least amount of your time and money.

Marketing research show that people purchase things from brands they like and trust. And choosing a therapist is much more personal and intimate than buying a rug or a car!

People choose to work with you as a therapist because of who you are, so good marketing actually means honing and articulating your unique personality, niche, and message, as well as figuring out how to get your name and face out there. I can help.

Remember, it’s not marketing. It’s learning how to speak to the world.
