Fall in love again
Awaken! Summer Creative intensive
“I don’t even know what I enjoy anymore”
“When I was a kid I used to do so much art, but now I don’t…”
“I wish I had more time for creating, but I’m so tired after work”
Does this sound like you? Awaken! is a month long deep dive into the creative process. Its aim is to help you orient yourself to joy, color, playfulness, and expression. Through group check-ins and discussions, weekly creative assignments, and a field trip each Saturday, you’ll be gently invited to stretch your creative muscle and explore what gets in the way of expressing yourself. No artistic experience is necessary for this group, and the emphasis will be on process (the feel and sensory pleasure of creating), not the end product. Please note that this is not a psychotherapy group and is not a substitute for professional therapy.

Awaken runs for about one month, from July 8 to August 5, and meets twice a week:

-
Tuesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM (online via Zoom)
These evening sessions are a chance to check in, reflect, share what’s coming up creatively or emotionally, and receive prompts or guidance for the week ahead. They’re cozy, supportive, and low-pressure.

-
Saturdays, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM (in person around San Francisco)
Each weekend we’ll gather somewhere new—a museum, a garden, a mural walk—for hands-on creative experiences. These sessions blend mindful wandering, sketching, writing, collage, and more. You’ll explore the city through a creative lens, often with time to journal or create on the spot.

You’ll also be invited to keep a special journal throughout the course, which you’ll use to collect reflections, drawings, ticket stubs, overheard dialogue, little breakthroughs, and anything else you discover along the way.

The fee is $375-$750, depending on what you can pay. This covers the cost of De Young Museum entrance, weekly creative prompts and discussion, but does not include art supplies at the pottery studio (these range from $20-$50). The schedule is subject to change based on weather and availability.
